Burnett Garden Club March 2018 meeting
Meeting called to order at 6:37 PM by President, Kris Henning Welcome to Laura Warrick, new member and recent retiree to the Johnson Lake area. Member introduced selves and made a few comments about their lives.
Secretary’s report was posted to the blog. Approved by Charlene S. Second by Mary C. Motion approved by club to accept report.
Treasurer’s report: Current balance $2759.42.
Discussion re: remaining cookbooks. We have not made enough money to cover the cost of the cookbooks and have about 40 left. Motion make to sell the rest at a reduced price. Will attempt to sell the rest at $6.50 each. Some have been placed at the Flower Shop and 136 Vintage (SCF).
Upcoming events: Pine City Master Gardeners—Saturday March 24, 8 am-2 pm. Information brochure passed around and available on website. Barron Co Spring Expo, April 7
Committee reports: Nothing new
Old Business: 30th anniversary, June 21. Mary C. reviewed plan of committee, needs, sent around sign-up sheet for specific needs. Sounds well planned and organized!!
Long time member, Lucille Danielson died this past week. She was a very special lady and a great asset to the garden club. The club will plant an apple tree in her honor at the public library. Club members who are able to attend the funeral on Saturday, will assist with transporting flowers to T. Dawgs after the funeral. (editor's note: this is no longer a need.)

Rhonda Johnson is part of the Grantsburg Alliance of Churches which is working with 4 area churches, who are having a progressive supper, to raise money for the Backpack Program. Looking for silent Auction Donations for a couple gardening baskets.
Next meeting: Saturday April 14 @ Wood River Garden Store. Dean Faulhaber will be showing us “What’s New.” (editor's note: booklet says April 21 but the correct date is April 14).

Located in Grantsburg, Wisconsin, the Burnett Garden Club is a non-profit, educational club founded in 1988 and affiliated with the Minnesota State Horticultural Society, the largest organization of it's kind in the nation. We welcome anyone from the area to join our club regardless of county of residence. The club disbanded as a formal organization in December 2018

Meeting Reminder: Thursday, March 8, 6:30 pm GHS room 115
We will be meeting on Thursday, March 8, at 6:30 PM at the Grantsburg High School room 115 for a regular meeting. There will be an open door so no worries about being locked out!!
- The agenda will include planning for the plant sale and potting party and community plantings.
- Our presentation for the evening will be "Homemade Healthies", presented by Linnea Seume. Linnea with show us how to use common ingredients and things from the garden to make replacements for household chemicals for cleaning and laundry. This should be a very interesting presentation.
- Refreshments will be provided by Pam and Mary G
