Another Great Garden Club Showing at the Grantsburg Ag Fair!

Congratulations to all the garden club winners at the fair. Here are some pictures of the entries. Please forgive the out of focus snaps and any entries I missed. Let me know if I have labeled anything wrongly. There were lots of beautiful wheelbarrow entries but they were not labeled.

Please note, entries were brought in on Wednesday so some are a little past their prime, some day lilies no longer had blooms so are not shown. 

The fair ground planters also looked great. Thanks Ruthie for coordinating that effort. Pictures are included below.

Small group celebrate summer at the annual BBQ

We were a small group at Ruth Anderson's for the Annual Club BBQ last Thursday. Bugs and no breeze made it necessary to be indoors. Many apologies to one member (and maybe more) who did not find us in the downstairs family room (that walks out onto the garden) when expecting to spot us outdoors by the lake. With carpooling there were only a few cars parked in the driveway and no answer at the main door. We did manage to snag Sandy as she came deep into the yard wondering what could have become of us. If you could not find us, I again apologize.


Sandy won 1st place in the container category for her fairy garden! 
Rhonda won 1st place in the cut flower category with her wonderful glads (Lucille, our queen of glads, would have been proud of Rhonda's glads!)
Sandy took 2nd place in the cut flower category.

We took a few minutes at the end of the evening to tour the gardens and have a picture taken.

A big thank you to Ruth for sharing her wonderful gardens and hospitality with us!

Our annual BBQ potluck and competition is just a week away!! We will meet on Thursday,
August 9 at 5:30 pm at Ruth Anderson's on Little Wood Lake. Members and quests are welcome. New or potential members are encouraged to come as well. If you can't get there at 5:30, that's okay, come later!

Bring a dish to share and your entries for the competitions to win prizes! There will be 1st and 2nd places awarded for Best Container Garden and 1st place for Best Cut Flower Arrangement. Check out these links from previous BBQs for examples of entries in these two competitions.

Directions:  22918 Wood Lake Drive (on Little Wood Lake). From 70, between Alpha and Falun, take Little Wood Lake road south about 1.5 miles to Wood Lake Drive going east. When you get to the end of the road turn right, it will be the next driveway on the left--light grey house and garage with red doors.
