Happy New Year! Next Meeting and a new competition!!

Happy New Year to all our members and anyone else who visits us on this website. 2014 was an event filled year for our club and we have another full year planned for 2015. Check out our Calendar on the Calendar tab for the year's offerings.

We will get 2015 underway with our first meeting of the year on Thursday January 8, 6:30 PM at the Grantsburg High School in room 111.

Mary Charmoli will be presenting a slide show and talk on the Chelsea and Malvern Flower Shows. She will also provide some special refreshments in keeping with the theme!

Our agenda:

• We will discuss the details of the February Victorian Tea and collect prepayment. The cost will be $15.00 per person. The club will cover $5.00 for members so be prepared with a check or cash for $10.00.  Non-members will pay $15.00 but will get membership with that amount if they so choose.  
• If you will not be able to attend the January meeting, please make your reservation for the tea and send in your prepayment to Teresa, her address is in the 2014 and 2015 booklets. 
• If you did not get a booklet for 2015 you can pick it up at the meeting or Mary will mail one to you. If you are not a member contact any of our officers for info on the tea and how to prepay. See the Officers tab on this blog. 
• We will also be planning for the March seed planting workshop and discussing what plants have sold well at our annual plant sale so that we can be sure to have plenty on hand for the sale in 2015.

Now for the announcement of a new competion!!

Below you will see a picture of a piece of wood.

Your task if you want to win fabulous prizes! is to create something using this piece of wood. Anything. You can even use more than one piece of wood.

Get your piece of wood from Pam. You can pick one or more pieces up at any time you are in Grantsburg. They are outside the side door on the west side of the garage (my garage is at the dead end of Pine Street half a block past the post office in Grantsburg--216 N Pine Street). Stop by and help yourself, no need to call ahead.  I have plenty of these pieces of wood so take as many as you like.

We will also be using these pieces of wood to make quilt blocks in November but feel free to make quilt blocks if you so choose.

We are hoping the club can come up with some really fun ideas that we can use to make things to sell at Grantoberfest. The best ideas will win prizes so get creative, scour Pinterest and crafter websites and magazines or just let your mind go wild!! then get to work. You can incorporate anything you want to, to create your masterpiece, even electricity. But it must include at least one piece of wood (or part of the piece of wood or all of it cut in pieces or....)

Bring your finished product or products to the March meeting for show and tell and prizes!! You may submit up to 3 entries.

What will the fabulous prizes be you ask?  Don't know yet but I will let you know as soon as the Board decides!! That is, the Board of Directors, it is on the agenda for the January Board Meeting.
