Sign Garden Cleanup and Evaluation. Planting the gardens on Thursday, May 29 6:00.

Georgianne, Linnea and Pam arrived for the cleanup of the Grantsburg sign garden at 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 22. Tim stopped by to lend moral support! Work went fast and the garden looks pretty good except for some sub-par plants.

Spirea and Karl Forester grasses look like they may not have made it. If not, we will need to replace 7 spirea and 4 or 5 grasses. Liatris, yellow spurge, day lilies and Siberian iris look good but the sedum is not looking as robust as one would like. We can use an infusion of fresh plants in this garden.

Pam and Georgianne checked out the Memory Lake garden after a B&B (burger and beer) at the American Legion. The garden is round and raised and measures 14 feet in diameter with a flag pole in the middle. Existing ninebark and spirea do not look good. Kris had suggested putting in some grasses and day-lilies, zinnia and marigold for color.

We will meet at the sign garden at 6:00 on Thursday, May 29 to plant zinnias and marigolds at the sign garden and spread mulch. If we have a plan by then we can pull out the spirea and grasses and plant replacement item. We can go out for a burger after is anyone would be interested.

Hope to see you then!!
