Meeting Minutes, May 2015

The Burnett Garden Club May 14, 2015 meeting was called to order by President Kris Henning at 6:40 p.m.  The meeting was held at Village Floral & Gifts.  Attending were: Kris, Audrey, Pam, Lisa, Mary G, Sandy Harmon (and granddaughter), Sandra Hinrichs, and Linnea.  The April meeting notes, done by Mary Charmoli, were approved.  They are on the Garden Club blog.

The Treasure’s report was given by Kris.  There is currently $1,597.50 in the account.

Committee Reports:

Plant Sale
- June 6 is the PLANT SALE at the T’Dawg’s parking lot.  Kris has more potting pots, soil and plant label/tags for anyone who needs them.  She also has a sign up sheet for this.  Please contact her about plants you are bringing and when you can help at this.  Lisa Slater will check into putting an ad in the Sentinel and maybe the Learder for the sale. Kris had the sale included in the Big Gust Pays flyer.  A plant sale sign document created by Kris will be emailed to each member by Pam to be printed and hung up at community bulletin boards.

Community Flower Gardens

Pam reports that the planting by the Grantsburg sign on Hwy 70 will be on May 28 at 5:30.  Please come and help if you are available.  This will be the only garden planted that eve. The club will treat workers to burgers at Dreamers afterward.

Pam also updated us that the planting at the Library is progressing.  Perennials and shrubs have been planted.  Anyone who has plants to put in this garden is welcome to go to the Library and plant them or donate them to Pam or Georgianne. The budget of $2,500 this year still has a lot to be used due to donations of plants. Any balance will not carry over to next year.  Unused funds will go back to the Village.

Lisa Slater says that the planting at the Fairgrounds beds will be determined.

Upcoming Meetings

July 16 will be the community garden tours.  Meet at the High School at 5:30 to depart.
August will be a picnic and boat ride at Lisa Slater’s.  The date is to be determined.

Old Business

Lisa will be ordering the Garden Club t-shirts very soon.  She will order 23 or more at a cost of $10.00 each.

Other Business

Pam talked about how the Grantsburg Revitalization Operation (GRO) wants more plants put in along Olson Drive to downtown Grantsburg.  If more beds are put in, then people will need to weed them. She will see if the Village will grade a trail and put wood chips down.  She will have more information about this later on.

The meeting adjourned at 7:10.  Then, fairy gardens were made by most in attendance.
Refreshments were provided by Audrey and Lisa.
